HAVEN HIGH APPLICATION FORM

indicates a required answer

Welcome! HAVEN is an intentional, vibrant community of parents coming together for the purpose of creating educational opportunities, fun events and lifelong memories for our children and teens. Currently we have three campuses and this fall, we are excited to launch a program for TEENS ONLY!

HAVEN HIGH will be hosted on Wednesdays, October to May, at our Brunswick location. This program is geared towards responsible teens 13+. We have a lineup of fabulous teachers (that's right you get a break!) to facilitate hands-on, experiential learning in an engaging environment. We are committed, as always, to making this one-day-a-week program affordable, relatable and accessible for our families.

You DO NOT need to be a current HAVEN member attending one of our campuses to enroll your teen in this program. You DO need to submit an application by August 25th and interview, before your application is approved. Once those steps are accomplished and you have paid the $50 deposit, your teen(s) will be officially enrolled.

Please read all points below to gain insight into the program. If you have further questions: [email protected]

You MUST fill one application out PER student, even if you are hoping to enroll multiple teens. Thank you.

Course Descriptions

Science or Math

A lecture-style class with group collaboration taught by retired navy veteran "Mr. Bob." His style of teaching is a crowd favorite at HH.

Debate

A 1 hour class where students will know the topic ahead of time and come prepared to defend their view point. This will be less about every student having to speak in front of the class and more focused on a fun and colloborative approach to understanding how to present your "case" and listen well to others. Conversations and tangents encouraged.

Writing

Creative writing. Using group and individual methods, this class will strive to find ways to make writing enjoyable for those it is not; and expand possibilities for those who love it already. Supportive, silly, and nonjudgmental class which will have homework.

Strategic

Develop your strategic mindset via a variety of group challenges and activities (pontaneous problem solving activities, solving Dark Stories, boardgames, etc) that will ask you to create, innovate and collaborate. We will always apply the scientific method: 'What worked? What didn't?' How could we try to improve our results? And try again.

Community driven class with an emphasis on learning how to communicate and work well together.

"Engineering perseverance mindset: problems are just more info leading us to our solution."

Class is a good fit for teens who have developed good frustration tolerance, enjoy challenges and exploring activities that can be long without always having desired outcomes.

I understand that a $50 deposit holds my teen's space in the program and agree to pay that as soon as I am invoiced.

I understand that HAVEN is committed to making this an affordable and accessible program for all families.

We offer two paymet tiers:

Tier 1: annual fee of $650 and parent must volunteer to be present as a teacher's assistant 1x every 4-6 weeks

Tier 2: annual fee of $850 for a full drop-off (no parent volunteering)

This program is an 8 month, October to May, teen only program. We can not offer sibling discounts at this time. We do offer a 4-month payment plan where the cost of the program is divided between October, November,  December and January.  First monthly payment would be due October 1st. (If you would like to start paying in the summer, we can bill you starting in June which would make for smaller monthly payments.)

**There will be supplies or notebooks/pens your teen will need to bring on the first day.

HAVEN HIGH is structured like a drop-off program but there will be parents on the premises at all times to support the teachers. We ask each family that chooses Tier 1 to participate at least once a month. We will present an annual calendar before the program's start date with two parent volunteers scheduled per week. Again, this is a once a month committment to keep costs down and ensure safety and support for all.

I understand that once my application is reviewed, I and my teen will be contacted for an interview within the week. Upon interview completion, HAVEN leadership will assess all applicants and contact me to let me know if my teen has been accepted into the program.

Applications close August 25th.

Do NOT pay the $50 deposit until your teen has been accepted into the program.
